Col Glenn A. King is the Deputy Commander of the 118th Wing, Berry Field Air National Guard Base, Nashville, Tennessee. As the deputy commander, he provides support to the commander as he oversees $250 million in base property and an annual budget of $116 million that includes the training management and employment of over 1060 military personnel with a mission to maintain military superiority through the relentless pursuit of relevance, technical innovation, and the development and readiness of our Citizen Airmen.
Col King enlisted in the Tennessee Air National Guard in September 1988, joining the 105th Weather Flight as a meteorology apprentice. He attended Middle Tennessee State University and was selected for an early appointment to the Academy of Military Science for commissioning as a 2d Lt in August 1993. He has served in various roles across the Wing including two squadron command tours and deputy group command. Prior to his current position, he served as the commander of the Mission Support Group, 118th Wing, Berry Field Air National Guard Base, Nashville, Tennessee.
Col King’s flying career began in 1996 when he attended Joint Specialized Undergraduate Navigator Training in Pensacola, Florida, and Randolph AFB, Texas. In April of 2000, he attended Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training at Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, Texas with a follow-on to Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, Texas. He has flown in several Department of Defense (DoD) aircraft including the T-34C, T-1A, T-37B, TC-12A, C-130E, C-130H2, WC-130H, and MQ-9. He has participated in numerous operations around the globe including Coronet Oak, Joint Guard, Noble Eagle, Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, Freedom’s Sentinel, and others.
