Several members from the 118th Security Forces Squadron returned home to Nashville following a deployment on Nov. 6, 2016.

Many members from the 118th SFS had been deployed to Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates for the past six months and began returning to Nashville on Nov. 2, 2016.

"We were working alongside active duty people," said Staff Sgt. Troy Lozano, one of the deployed security forces members who returned on Nov. 6, 2016. "We learned more of the law enforcement aspect of security forces and how to do our job in a deployed environment."

Other duties the deployed members performed were manning entry control points, checking credentials, and helping keep the base safe said Lozano.

"When they are here, they are exposed to a base that is smaller," said Maj. Antonio Rowland, commander of the 118th SFS. "It's a lot bigger mission that they were dealing with there."

While the members who deployed learned a lot during their time away, everyone is happy they have returned.

"We're glad they're back home," said Rowland. "They can use their experience to help us all get better."
