The 118th Operations Group masters the dynamic complexities and innumerable challenges of unmanned operations. They have steadily increased their hours of combat time year after year, supporting named operations around the world. Their activation rates and the ops tempo have climbed higher than ever before supporting such critical missions.

“The men and women of the 118th Ops group support combat operations 24/7/365,” says Lt Colonel Aaron Sauer. "From Nashville, we have flown tens of thousands of combat hours in the MQ-9 Reaper in numerous areas of responsibility, provide intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, and deliver weapons on several high-value targets.”

This very moment operations Airmen are defending the nation around the world. The 105th attack squadron, formed over a century ago, has earned a reputation of excellence, boasting the highest weapons accuracies in the community. They are assigned to the most successful task forces and handed the most demanding missions. They have evolved into the most technologically advanced squadron in the Air National Guard, comprised of specialists and flying operations, weapons & tactics operations support, mission’s intelligence disciplines, global communications and combat meteorology.

While the 105th is the most well-known squadron in the Ops Group, the 118th Operations Support Squadron is the foundation. The OSS furthers many of the same mission lines, while rapidly providing critical technical and administrative support for the entire group.

“We are at the tip of the spear,” said Sauer. "We take the fight to the enemy daily. This mission is challenging and important because we execute the entire kill chain to find, fix, and finish enemy targets.”

The members of the 118th operations group continually meet the needs of a changing world. These Airmen exemplify the standard, with their commitment to service, Tennessee and our nation.
